ABOUT ME
"In my opinion, Paul is a skilled education consultant who very much uses the school's context as a starting point - it is certainly not a case of one size fits all. His presentation style is professional, well prepared, and leaves all staff feeling empowered to try new things."
Headteacher
Junior School, Brentwood
I have worked in primary education for 26 years. I began teaching in a primary school in East London before moving to work in primary schools in Essex. I have taught across the primary age range and have worked as a subject leader for mathematics, history, geography and design technology, as well as working in senior management positions.

Working then for Essex Local Authority as Lead Area Consultant, I supported the development of learning and teaching across a range of schools, and managed the deployment of a team of consultants and advisers, as well as designing and delivering an extensive professional development offer for schools. I then worked for a commercial provider of professional development and school support services as Education Adviser, providing professional development and school consultancy across the curriculum for teachers and school leaders. Through these roles, and now as an independent consultant, I deliver consultancy and training for maintained schools, stand alone academies, MATs, and schools in the independent sector, working alongside schools in Essex, Suffolk, Thurrock, Southend, Havering, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

I have a specialism in the development of the learning and teaching of primary mathematics, being accredited with NCETM as a Professional Development Lead, having undertaken research visits to schools in China to explore approaches to learning and teaching , and having worked as an associate tutor for a higher education institution and a tutor for initial teacher training. My expertise is not limited to mathematics, however, and I am able to provide support for schools across many areas of the curriculum. I have a particular interest in curriculum design and development, particularly for science, history and geography. I have worked as a moderator for the local authority for statutory moderation at both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.

Contact me to discuss how I can provide staff training, collaborative professional development and coaching for support staff, class teachers, subject leaders and senior leaders to develop learning and teaching in your school.

"We have enjoyed working with Paul over the last three years. He has helped us move our maths practices forward by giving staff a real understanding and confidence, particularly around the area of using practical equipment in order to build solid foundations of mathematical knowledge."
